Thomas H.M. Moulthrop, MD, FACS
Thomas H.M. Moulthrop, M.D., FACS joined Dr. Calvin M. Johnson, Jr. as a partner in 2003. He was honored that Dr. Johnson asked him to stay on as a partner after his fellowship training in 2002. For the next thirteen years, Dr. Moulthrop worked closely with Dr. Johnson refining his skills and collaborating in the training of twelve facial plastic fellows until Dr. Johnson’s retirement in 2016.
In addition to his partnership with Dr. Johnson, Dr. Moulthrop also joined the faculty in the Department of Otolaryngology at Tulane Medical School. He has been involved in medical education training of over 40 residents and active in treating both adults and children in the areas of reconstruction, trauma, and facial aesthetics. During his training and currently as an assistant clinical professor at Tulane Medical School, Dr. Moulthrop has participated in craniofacial teams performing surgeries on patients with cleft lip and palate deformities both here and on mission trips to Ecuador, Palestine, and the Philippines.
Dr. Moulthrop adheres to the philosophy of a balanced approach to cosmetic surgery in order to achieve the most natural and lasting results. He is proud to continue the standard of aesthetic excellence established by Dr. Johnson that patients have come to know from their experience at Hedgewood Plastic Surgery. Dr. Moulthrop also specializes in non-surgical facial rejuvenations.
Thomas H.M. Moulthrop, M.D., FACS graduated from the University of California at Berkeley in 1992 receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Genetics, he obtained his medical degree from New York Medical College in 1997. Dr. Moulthrop completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the University of California Davis Medical Center. He then went on to complete a one-year fellowship in Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Tulane University under the tutelage of Dr. Calvin Johnson at Hedgewood Plastic Surgery.
Dr. Moulthrop is double board certified by the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery and by the American Academy of Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a member of the medical honor society Alpha Omega Alpha. For added convenience, Dr Moulthrop also sees patients at his northshore facial plastic surgery office in Madisonville/Covington on Friday afternoons.
Dr. Moulthrop lives in New Orleans with his wife and his dog ‘Hank’. During his free time Dr. Moulthrop enjoys fishing, cheering on the Pelicans and Saints, and supporting the local arts and entertainment that Louisiana has to offer.
